Greetings Saint Augustine Family,
Today, we celebrate the Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time. The Gospel raises the question of the proper relationship between Church and State, expressed in terms of the relationship between God and Caesar: “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what belongs to God.”
However, there is a fundamental truth that must not be overlooked: As Creator of the universe, everything belongs to God! There is no area of life that falls outside God’s concern, nor is there any area that can be properly managed without recognizing God’s sovereignty over all creation including you and me.So, as we celebrate the Eucharist today, let us give to God what belongs to God: our praise, our worship, our hearts, and our lives.
